Shingles
Shingles are certainly an important part of your new home building. An obvious aspect is the roofing coverage that shingles provide; however, shingles also add to the design feature of your home. When choosing your shingles, there are a variety of choices from materials to colors to designs to warranties. These warranties can range from 10 years up to 50 years! Shingles can be made of asphalt, slate, cedar, and fiberglass. There are even eco-friendly shingles made from composites of post landfill plastics and solar energy shingles that offer savings on your electric bill. These materials come in array of colors including shades of gray (slate to silver), green (hunter to forest), blue (midnight to regatta), red (brick to burgundy), browns (chestnut to autumn), and of course, black. They also can have a frost or pearl look. Architectural shingles come in shake looks, slate looks, and designer looks. Some shingles have smooth, clean lines. Other shingles have a traditional or rustic pattern. Some even have shadows with varying colors in the same set of shingles. You can even design a pattern, for example a diamond shape, in the shingles. When choosing your house plan or home plan, keep in mind your roofing needs and designs. Your roof is certainly your canvas!
